This 1970 Plymouth Road Runner hardtop was refurbished more than 20 years ago and was later fitted with a 440ci V8 around the time it was acquired by the current owner in 2016. Finished in red over black vinyl, the car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission, a Sure-Grip differential, 14″ road wheels, power steering, a four-barrel carburetor, an Air Grabber hood, a Hurst pistol-grip shifter, and a Pioneer CD stereo.
Finished from the factory in Rallye Red (E5), the car was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment, which is said to have been conducted in the 1990s. The “Air Grabber” hood has a driver-operated scoop as well as black striping and chrome securing pins. Chrome dual exhaust outlets exit below the rear bumper. The car also has a driver-side mirror and chrome bumpers.
Black-accented chromed 14″ steel road wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Braking is provided by red-painted front and rear drums, and the steering is power assisted. The selling dealer serviced the brakes in preparation for the sale.
The front and rear bench seats are upholstered in silver-accented black vinyl and are complemented by color-coordinated door panels. Appointments include a Hurst pistol-grip shifter, front and rear lap belts, a heater, and black carpeting. An AM radio is positioned in the dashboard, and a Pioneer CD stereo has been added beneath the dash.
The three-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring, a Road Runner “Beep! Beep!” center cap, and an aftermarket wrap. A 150-mph speedometer is accompanied by gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 98k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 440ci V8 was installed around 2016 and is topped by a four-barrel carburetor and a Super Commando–labeled air cleaner. The car’s chassis number indicates that it was originally powered by a 383ci V8.
