This 1967 Plymouth Barracuda convertible was acquired by the seller in 2018 after being stored in a garage for more than 30 years, and it was subsequently modified for autocross competition and touring. This 1967 Plymouth Barracuda convertible was acquired by the seller in 2018 after being stored in a garage for more than 30 years, and it was subsequently modified for autocross competition and touring. Work involved installation of a Blueprint Engines 408ci V8, a Holley 750cfm carburetor, a TCI TorqueFlite 904 three-speed automatic transmission, an 8¾” Sure-Grip differential with 3.23:1 gearing, Yukon axles, American Legend 17″ wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, QA1 adjustable strut rods and upper control arms, and Hotchkis torsion bars, leaf springs, and sway bars. Finished in red with a power-operated tan soft top over red vinyl upholstery, the car also has a black aftermarket hood, an aluminum radiator, electronic ignition, aftermarket gauges, and replacement carpeting and door panels.
The car was finished from the factory in Bright Red (PP1) and was repainted under prior ownership, according to the seller. The matte-black aftermarket hood has securing pins and a central scoop, and the power-operated tan convertible top is a Robbins replacement component with a one-piece glass rear window. Other equipment includes a red top boot, dual sideview mirrors, 273 fender badging, and chrome bumpers and trim. The door seals and window felts were replaced during the aforementioned refurbishment.
Magnum 500–style American Legend 17″ wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich G-Force Sport Comp tires measuring 215/50 in front and 235/50 out back. Drilled and slotted four-wheel disc brakes were adapted along with a Mopar Performance aluminum manual-brake master cylinder, stainless-steel hard and flex lines, and an adjustable proportioning valve. The suspension was modified with QA1 adjustable strut rods and upper control arms, stiffening plates for the stock lower control arms, and Hotchkis Sport Suspension front torsion bars, front and rear sway bars, and 1″-lowering rear leaf springs.
The front bucket and rear bench seating surfaces are trimmed in red vinyl upholstery. The carpeting and the door cards were replaced under current ownership following application of Kilmat sound-deadening material. Appointments include a center console, lap belts, a heater, and an AM radio.
The factory dash panel and gauges are not functional, and the ammeter has been bypassed. Fuel level, oil pressure, engine temperature, and voltage are monitored through aftermarket gauges positioned below the dashboard. A tachometer is attached to the steering column. The five-digit odometer shows 41k miles; the seller reports having added 7,500 miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 408ci V8 is a Mopar Magnum–based stroker crate engine that was sourced from Blueprint Engines and installed by the seller. The engine is augmented by a Holley Street Demon 750cfm carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, Mopar Performance valve covers, a Denso-style starter, a Denso one-wire alternator, an HEI-style distributor, an Engineered Cooling Products aluminum radiator, and dual electric auxiliary cooling fans. The spark plugs and oil were changed most recently in April 2024. The car’s chassis number indicates that it was originally powered by a 273ci V8.
