This 1965 Ford Mustang convertible was ordered through the Los Angeles sales office with Vintage Burgundy paint, standard black upholstery on the bucket seats, and a C-code 289ci V8 linked to a C-4 automatic. The current owners undertook a restoration between 2015 and 2018, with work including installing a 302ci V8, rebuilding the transmission, stripping and refinishing the body, refreshing the interior, and installing disc brakes, headers, a custom dual exhaust system, and 15″ style-steel wheels along with a vintage-look radio.
The car was ordered in Vintage Burgundy (X), and the restoration included stripping the body and replacing the doors, fenders, trunk lid, bumpers, lights, trim, grille, and windows. The black soft top, frame, and lifting cylinder were also replaced.
The owners refreshed the front suspension and steering systems and added front discs, 15″ styled-steel wheels, and Goodyear tires.
The interior was redone with replacement seat covers, door cards, and carpeting, the latter of which has sound insulation under it. Wiring was replaced, and a vintage-look radio was installed.
The dashboard was also recovered, and the steering wheel was replaced. The 25k miles on the five-digit odometer is not accurate according to the selling dealer.
A 302ci V8 crate motor was installed in place of the original C-code 289. It is topped by a Holley carburetor and has MSD ignition, a Summit Racing distributor, a Powermaster starter, a Tuff Stuff alterntor, and Scott Drake high-performance headers. The cooling and fuel systems were also gone through.
