This 1961 Lincoln Continental convertible was acquired by the seller in 2015, reportedly following approximately four decades of storage in Wisconsin. A cosmetic refresh was performed in 2017, including a repaint and the installation of replacement carpets. It is finished in white over black and white leather and is powered by a 430ci V8 linked with a dual-range three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated blue convertible top, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, 14″ steel wheels with polished covers, a power-adjustable front bench, power windows, an AM radio, and a heater.
The car was finished from the factory in Sultana White and was repainted in July 2017, at which time rust in the rear quarter panels and dog legs were repaired with metal patch panels. The power soft top hydraulic system was rebuilt in 2015, and additional equipment includes LED underbody lighting, quad headlights, a driver-side mirror, a manual antenna, a Lincoln hood ornament, and chrome bumpers and trim. The seller states that the hydraulic wipers are slow, one of the door locks does not function, and the rear bumper is twisted. There is a dent on the right front bumper and rust bubbling on the left rear door.
The 14″ steel wheels feature polished covers and are mounted with Diamond Back Auburn tires. Power steering was standard, and braking is provided by power-assisted front and rear drums. The brake booster was rebuilt and the master cylinder and hoses were replaced in 2015. The steering box was also rebuilt that year, while the power steering pump was rebuilt in 2021.
The cabin houses replacement bench seating upholstered in white and black leather, and replacement blue carpeting was installed under current ownership. Amenities include a power-adjustable front bench seat, power windows, power locks, an AM radio, front lap belts, and a heater. The heat works intermittently and there is a tear on the front passenger seat.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 97k miles, approximately 10k of which were added under current ownership. The left turn signal does not self-cancel.
The 430ci V8 was factory equipped with a two-barrel carburetor and was rated at 300 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. The carburetor and water pump were rebuilt in 2015 and 2017, respectively, and the alternator was also rebuilt under current ownership. An auxiliary electric fuel pump and a stainless steel fuel pump pushrod have been added.
